After being forced to leave Iraq, Quasan, Satar and their five children, found a new home in the centre of Karditsa, a small town in Central Greece. The small apartment they live in is part of UNHCR’s ESTIA, the Emergency Support to Integration and Accommodation programme, which is funded by the European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO).

Through ESTIA UNHCR, in cooperation with the Greek Government, NGOs and local authorities including the Municipality of Karditsa, provides urban accommodation and cash assistance to refugees and asylum seekers in Greece.
