UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, in cooperation with the Prefecture of Epirus and the Municipalities of Ioannina and Zitsa, is pleased to announce the completion of the sewerage network construction connecting Agia Eleni’s accommodation facility to the public grid. The project was completed thanks to funding by the European Commission’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).
In addition to contributing to better conditions for refugees in the area and its positive environmental impact, the sewerage project will serve hundreds of households and businesses in the Municipality of Zitsa.
