More than 29,000 people have been accommodated in apartments, hotels and other facilities across Greece, since the launch of UNHCR’s Accommodation and Services Scheme in 2016.
The programme responds to the need to enhance Greece’s reception capacity for vulnerable asylum seekers and relocation candidates.
UNHCR ensures that all beneficiaries are accommodated in a dignified shelter (apartments, hotels, accommodation facilities) while also supporting adequate living conditions through the cash card assistance programme, assist access to social services such as interpretation and provide basic medical, legal and psycho-social support.
The programme is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Migration Policy and funded by the European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid.
